Empowering futures through our Medical Career Planning Workshop

The RGPWA Medical Career Planning Workshop is facilitated virtually by Dr Ashe Coxon
03/05/2024

We recently delivered our annual Medical Career Planning Workshop to our trainees virtually via Microsoft Teams.

Funded by the RGPWA Coordination Unit and facilitated by Dr Ashe Coxon, the aim of the program was to assist our trainees in choosing an advanced skill and setting them up for career longevity and happiness.

Dr Coxon is a general practitioner and career counsellor, and the founder of Medical Career Planning, an organisation dedicated to helping doctors and medical students find career-life happiness. During the workshop, Dr Coxon provided a structured framework to help these aspiring rural generalists identify their interests, personality factors, and values to discover how these feed into their career choice, guiding them towards choosing an advanced skill that aligns with their goals.

The workshop was also attended by our Director of Rural Generalist Training and some of our Rural Generalist Directors of Clinical Training, who were able to share their own insights and perspectives gained from years of experience working as rural generalists.

One participant told us that attending the workshop and listening to Dr Coxon’s wisdom was a wonderful experience.

We look forward to offering the program again in 2025, so stay tuned for further information!
