Bowling, banter and bonding: RGPWA trainees hit the lanes in Albany

RGPWA trainees in the Great Southern showing off their ten-pin bowling skills
17/09/2025

When the RGPWA trainees in the Great Southern needed a break recently, they swapped their scrubs for bowling shoes and headed to Albany’s new Wild West Bowling. With the winter weather doing its thing, the indoor venue was the perfect spot to stay dry and have a laugh.

Proudly backed by RGPWA, the event brought together trainees and the regional team for a night of friendly rivalry and pin-crashing action. The lanes quickly turned into a stage for some surprisingly competitive (and occasionally chaotic) bowling. Strikes were celebrated, gutter balls were shrugged off, and the vibe was all about fun.

Even the Coordination Unit staff joined in – though we won’t name names when it comes to questionable bowling form. Thankfully, the only thing bruised was a bit of pride!

More than just a night out, the event helped trainees connect across different stages of their rural generalist journey. These casual catchups are part of the RGPWA Great Southern team’s ongoing efforts to build community and make sure no one’s going it alone.

Keep an eye out for the next RGPWA get-together. Whether you’re in it for the networking or just the snacks, it’s always worth showing up
