RGPWA Medical Career Planning Workshop: Choosing your Advanced Skill
The Rural Generalist Pathway WA (RGPWA) Coordination Unit will hold its annual Medical Career Planning Workshop on Wednesday 17 April 2024 from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
The workshop is facilitated by Dr Ashe Coxon, a Queensland-based general practitioner and career counsellor. Dr Coxon has been career counselling, planning and coaching doctors for more than five years and loves helping doctors and medical students find their 'why' and assisting them to create a fulfilling career. This free virtual workshop is designed to help RGPWA trainees understand more about their interests, personality, and values and discover how these feed into their career choice, particularly while choosing their advanced skill. Dr Coxon provides excellent insight into advanced skill selection, including the personal considerations that help plan a fulfilling career.
Feedback from past attendees has been excellent, with many enjoying how Dr Coxon was able to personalise the discussion. One participant remarked that the session provided them with a better understanding of why they have chosen their career path to date, and now feel better equipped to continue navigating their training pathway moving forward. Another participant said they wished they had done it sooner and would love to do it again further into their career.
If you are an RGPWA trainee or a WACHS junior doctor with rural generalist intent and interested in attending this workshop, please express your interest via email to RuralGeneralist@health.wa.gov.au by Friday 29 March 2024. Hurry, as places are limited!
