Medical School
While many medical students already harboured a strong interest in rural medicine prior to medical school, others develop an interest through rural immersive experiences during their studies. Opportunities include Rural Clinical School placements and other rural placements.
Rural Clinical School Placements
The Rural Clinical School of WA (RCSWA) coordinates placements for penultimate and final-year medical students across various rural and regional WACHS sites. In addition, RCSWA coordinates shorter (up to four weeks) final year rural GP placements (RGPP). Please visit the RCSWA website for more information.
Other Rural Placements
The three medical schools in WA (The University of Western Australia, The University of Notre Dame Australia and Curtin University) collaborate with a range of organisations to place medical students in rural areas during their studies.
